A song, a post; a voice

May 18, 2012

Sometimes a song a post and a voice are one.

Fairouz – Wa3di Elak

Translation (or at least some attempt, it sounds WAY better in arabic!)

My vow to you is the vow of voice
I sing for you and let the world sing along
They have devoted me to you

Who has given me this sword and told me to bestow it
What did my mind tell me to say
Maybe if i stayed quite
Maybe if i didn’t say
I would have left
I would have been home

Oh’ Mom don’t wait for me infront of the gate
Don’t keep me in mind with the house’s chores

My fiance, Saleh, don’t wait for me this evening, not tomorrow, nor any other evening

They have written me on leaves of fire
They have given me alot of worries

I have to walk among stranger towns
From house to house
From path to path

Saleh, my fiance
The stories of night
And the wedding dresses I made in my mind
Take them to another girl
One you can be happy with
Forget me and don’t

I’m for him in time and
I devote my voice, life and death
To the glory of Lebanon

Enjoy your weekend!
