You’re sitting down having a conversation, turning into a small debate about any given topic, and then someone blurts: “90% of people know that blah blah blah” .. “really? is that statistic? can you tell me where you got it from?” .. “it’s not a statistic.. but everyone knows that!” ..
Yes we’ve all been there! and we’ve all wanted to *slap* that person, but ended up trying to explain that there is no such thing as “everyone knows that” unless it’s proven by solid facts, and that that is why our society is delusional. We have no idea where we stand, what we are and why, because we assume we know, but never take the time to gather evidence and research!
Yesterday, a Lebanese Politician said: “Saudi women are black trash bags we see nothing of” on a Lebanese media station…
Ironically, black Abayas are worn in Lebanon as well between conservatives and religious individuals.. may i also point out.. that across many religions black is the color of modesty and therefore worn by many clergy men and women.
The politician apologized today, because his moronity caused thousands to go down in the street in Lebanon outraged by his words and condemning them.
But what has been said is done, and in reply to Mr.RacistPolitician:
The 100 Most Powerful Arab Women report was released last week only, with 16 Saudi Women on it, all greatly influential and proud role models, in contrast with 13 Lebanese Women… (“most” of which are undeniably phenomenal) … these “trash bags” are more powerful than you think, raising above the social restraints of their society, flourishing, giving and encouraging other women in their region to thrive.
