ArabNet.ME the event of 2010

For the first time ever in the Middle East/ ArabWorld, A conference that covers the growing culture of internet and its users in the region. The two-day event covered many aspects of the Region’s Internet Habits and Developments, and opened space for further growth took place in Beirut, Lebanon on the 25th and 26th of March, 2010, at the Habtoor Hotel, Sin il Fil.
Panels included :

1.Ecosystem of entrepreneurship
3.Online Advertising
4.Social Media

These hot-topics were attended by spotlights of the web industry in the ME and Worldwide, featuring key speakers such as: Ghassan Haddad, Director of Internationalization on Facebook, Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of the UN Global Alliance for ICT and Development, Dr. Abdel Malek Jaber, CEO of Zain Jordan, and many more.


ArabNet.Me - Online Advertising Panel

As well as an Startup Demo featuring, 2 minute presentations of different ideas from across the region, young motivated entrepreneurs sharing  their creativity and wit to win investments and financing for their projects.
first place:
by Noor El Fadl  (Founder & CEO) – its a platform for creatives that allows them to post their portfolios and CVs, and for Companies looking for creatives to find and hire them through the website, as well as post and find freelance work.
(even i have a profile there – great effort, and work.

second place:
by Abdallah Absi, a 17 year-old developer, that created quite a stir with his great idea and devotion. Rifflex is a Browser Add-on that enhances the user experience, while browsing through the internet, and keeps you connected to the information you choose.

third place:
by Elie Nasr and Ghady Rayess , a mobile app that allows access to local events, restaurants, movie, etc. currently only available for Lebanon, but plans on expanding.

The Conversations that were conducted in the panels were very interesting and promising, they highlighted the key factors to the success of Arab Internet, and emphasized the role of governments in supporting this social empowerment, primarily by providing the infrastructure required to make the internet available to users across the region, to children as well as adults to able to express, communicate and acquire information.

ArabNet was Live Illustrated by the one and only Maya Zankoul with a live stream of the event as well as featured live tweets! Twitter was the star of the event scoring 10,000 tweets in two days and ranking 4th trending #ArabNetMe Globally.

The power of the Internet in the Middle-East(ArabWorld) region is limitless and yet to be explored, but it holds a great potential and power the change the entire face of the communities, as it allows them more freedom of speech, brings people closer together and empowers their knowledge.

ArabNet ME 2010 was founded by Omar Christidis, Vice president of IBAG, an idea that turned into reality with the power and help of internet communication, speed processing, multiple platforms, the enthusiastic team of arabnet and lots of ambassadors and a great lot of ambition from across the spectrum.

This Successful event is a mark in the Arab history, and hopefully the turn of a new page in development.
The was great enough to be covered thoroughly and reported through CNN, and many over International News.

Looking forward to the years events in the aftermath of ArabNetMe and 2011’s conference.
